Goats born just minutes ago

A few days ago I went to the Butterfly House with my daughter and two grandsons and had a wonderful time. We just missed the birth of two goats by minutes. It is amazing how they manage to stand up within a few minutes of being born. Also a first for me – I held a snake and a stick insect!! I only plucked up courage because a young girl held them first and then I was asked if I wanted to hold them. I could hardly say no, “I daren’t” could I? – Ann

Throapham House is less than 13 miles away from the venue allowing you ample time before the event to perhaps try some local restaurants whilst you visit. Why not stay an extra night and and spend Saturday exploring some of the wonderful countryside nearby. We are less than an hour away from Chatsworth House in the beautiful Peak District and just over an hour to York.

The Tropical Butterfly House located in North Anston (S25 4EQ) welcomes you to a world of unforgettable animal encounters. There are animals from South America, Australia , Africa, Asia and even South Yorkshire, including Prairie Dogs, which are new this year, owls, Meerkats and even a Skunk. The House offers “Animal encounters” which as the name suggest allows you to touch, feel and even hold some of the amazing animals and also falconry displays.

My Daughter often takes her children there as it really is a fun day out. There is an outdoor and indoor play area, so no matter what the weather there is always something to do.

Chatsworth House opens on Sunday 14 March

After major restoration, the house and gardens open on Sunday 14 March with a new visitor route through the house.  There is a new gallery for displaying art and new displays celebrating the Duchess Georgiana and an exhibition celebrating the 90th birthday of Deborah Devonshire, the present Dowager Duchess.
