Ann and Robert celebrate their White Rose Awards nomination
We’re both delighted to have been shortlisted for the third year running for this prestigious award. Having opened on our wedding anniversary exactly seven years ago this made another lovely reason for us to celebrate the day.
We’re sure to be facing stiff competition again so we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope to make it third time lucky for South Yorkshire!
Here are some photos from the previous awards ceremonies in 2011 and 2012. Look out for the brilliant photo of Ann and me together with Sara and Catherine from the 2011 finals in Doncaster.
Ann and I are once again delighted to announce that Throapham House has retained its Five Star Gold Award from Quality In Tourism, scoring 100% in both Cleanliness and Breakfast categories following a recent visit by the QIT assessor who stayed in our Dewhurst room. This was our seventh annual inspection and it’s hard to believe we’ve been running this business now for six years. Many thanks to all our guests and suppliers for your continued support.
This is the second year running we’ve made it through to the finals. Having been pipped at the post at last year’s ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse we’re now training hard and looking for an away win at Elland Road in October!
Once again we’re competing with some lovely properties across Yorkshire. Some of these we already know as members of Yorkshire’s Finest Accommodation. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all this year’s finalists good luck at Leeds.
I opened the post today to discover that we’d been awarded a 2012 Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor.
This is great news for us so we’d both like to thank all those guests who have taken the time to provide their comments. We’re delighted that you’ve enjoyed your stay at Throapham House and we hope you will return soon.

Our congratulations go to the winner of the category ‘Best B&B/Guest Accommodation’ – Kilham Hall which is situated near Driffield. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests and suppliers for their support since we began the business 5 years ago. We took our daughters Sara and Catherine to the awards ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse and had a wonderful time. We look forward to trying again for the award next year.
The news came exactly five years to the day since a group of our friends helped us cut the ribbon to open Throapham House for business. It was our wedding anniversary too – so a good excuse to crack open a bottle of bubbly!
We’re facing stiff competition from some of Yorkshire’s Finest Guest Accommodation providers – including last year’s winners at 17 Burgate. We will be flying the flag for South Yorkshire at Doncaster Racecourse in October and would like to wish all finalists good luck. Whether we win or not, we would like to thank all our guests for their wonderful comments and support.
Our regular supplier of bacon, pork sausage and black pudding have struck gold again – 5 times!! One of their gold awards was achieved for their superb quality plain pork sausage which you can taste when you have your breakfast at Throapham House. The awards were achieved at the recent BPEX North West Roadshow and our congratulations are sent to them. Well done!
